Ukrainian forces have struck Russian offshore oil and gas platforms in the Caspian Sea, including the Filanovsky field, as part of a broader campaign targeting Russian energy infrastructure. These strikes were carried out using long-range drones.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated that three Lukoil oil drilling platforms, among them the platform named after Vladimir Filanovsky, were hit by drones. The Filanovsky installation was one of these.
Ukraine’s military claims that these platforms were used in support of Russian military operations and that hits were confirmed, but official details about the scale of damage, casualties, or environmental impact have not been independently verified by international agencies.
Earlier reports from international news agencies also noted that Ukrainian drones had previously attacked the Filanovsky rig in December 2025, damaging equipment and leading to a halt in production, although direct independent confirmation from Lukoil was not available at the time.
