The MODU Chief Mechanic is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all mechanical equipment onboard a Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU). The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of drilling and marine mechanical systems while supervising mechanical personnel and maintaining compliance with offshore safety and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering.
Offshore mechanical maintenance experience on MODUs, jack-ups, semi-submersibles, or drillships.
Strong knowledge of drilling equipment and marine mechanical systems.
Experience in supervisory or leadership roles offshore.
Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
Knowledge of planned maintenance systems (PMS).

– Provide engineering support during pre-job planning and post-job analysis.

MPD Supervisor
– Lead and oversee MPD operations on-site, ensuring safety and efficiency.
– Supervise MPD engineers and technicians, providing guidance and training.
– Coordinate with drilling contractors, rig crews, and client representatives.
– Manage MPD equipment mobilization, installation, and maintenance.
– Ensure adherence to operational procedures and emergency response protocols.
– Act as the primary point of contact for clients during MPD operations.
– Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and reduce risks.
📋 Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or related discipline.
– Proven experience in MPD operations (minimum 5 years for Supervisor role).
– Strong knowledge of drilling hydraulics, well control, and MPD systems.
– Leadership and team management skills (for Supervisor role).
– Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making abilities.
– Willingness to work in challenging environments and rotational schedules.
